On Wednesdays We Take Selfies

It stands to reason that since we had an exhausting ride two days ago, yesterday's should be absolutely amazing.  And it was!

While a large portion of our route took us along LA 167, a fairly busy highway, the scenery was beautiful and the ride was relaxing.

I spend a lot of time focusing on getting to lunch and host sites with time to spare because I enjoy riding in the cooler morning air rather than the hot and humid afternoon sun.  However, after I stopped to help one of my teammates who had gotten a flat tire at mile 20, I was motivated to take the day a little easier and enjoy the sights rather than pushing to get to the finish line.

We stopped to climb on top of a tank and yell at our teammates as they passed us.

After we departed lunch, a group of five of us took it easy.  We passed plenty of corn fields and took lots of selfies on quiet country roads.

A group of our teammates explored an abandoned sugar mill.

Finally, a couple ride days back, Greg and I rescued a turtle from getting crushed in the road and of course we had to take a picture with Mr. Turtle before releasing him into the wild.
