About Bike & Build

Bike & Build envisions future generations who are committed to a lifetime of civic engagement and who inspire individuals and communities to create fair, decent housing for all Americans.  

Through service-oriented cycling trips, Bike & Build benefits affordable housing and empowers young adults for a lifetime of service and civic engagement while simultaneously upholding a strong dedication to their core values: 

1. Young adult drive: engaging people ages 18-26 as active agents and ambassadors for affordable housing efforts --> enables these young people to test their limits, become engaged and active citizens, and impact  the housing landscape 
2. Safety: health and safety prioritized above all else
3. Empowerment: opportunity to accomplish big things and tackle important problems 
4. Integrity: doing what is best for participants, donors, and affordable housing partners 
5. Fun!  Have a good time while helping others 

Founded in 2002, Bike & Build has consistently increased the number of routes offered to cyclists and communities.  Today, 9 different cross-country routes are completed by 270 young adults with an additional route that weaves through the North East for nearly three weeks, covering roughly 800 miles.
